In Context of Map Making
Ladder volumes allow the player to move freely wherever they are looking within their limits. They are resizable. Generally also used to allow for swimming, fill the area you wan't to be able to swim in with the ladder.
In Context of Gameplay
Ladders in Intruder allow the player to move up and down vertical slopes (like, you know, a ladder). While moving up a ladder, the only weapon a player will have available is their pistol; cam sticks are also available. Ladders can take all shapes and sizes, including but not limited to rung ladders, vines, pipes, rocks, etc. To climb a ladder, simply run at it, and you will automatically begin climbing. To descend, look downwards while going “forward.”
Examples
A guard climbing the ladder on Riverside.
A guard climbing up the vines on Mountainside.
